How do the wires being closer together minimize noise interference?
In the vehicle environment, there are many magnetic fields to disturb the electrical signals inside audio cables. The physical location of each conductor in relation to the source of the magnetic field, dictates the strength of the interference. The further away from each other the conductors are, the larger the difference in strengths of the interference. This difference in magnetic field strength is directly related to the amount of noise transmitted. Most interconnects have relatively thick insulation around their conductors. This pushes the conductors further away from each other. Streetwires interconnects are exceptionally close to each other because of the paper thin insulation (HDPE see below), reducing the amount of noise that the Twisted Pair Technology has to filter.
What is High Density Poly-Ethylene (H.D.pe)?
High Density Poly-Ethylene is an extremely effective insulating material equally at thinner diameters than standard Dielectric insulators.
What is Teflon Dielectric and how is it better than H.D.pe?
Teflon not only allows a thinner insulator than even H.D. pe, but offers much more strength and flexibility through the entire length of the interconnect cable.
How does Silver Plated Oxygen Free Copper help achieve pure sound?
Silver is generally a better conductor of electricity than copper. The higher frequency waves have a tendency to travel on the outer part of the wire so the Silver acts as sort of a purifier separating the high frequencies from the low frequencies in the copper. As an end result, the Silver/Copper layering filters out any interference between the two.
What is the benefit of Oxygen Free Copper?
When Oxygen is present in the composition of copper, it has a tendency to make the metal much more susceptible to corrosion over time which increases the resistance in the conductor. This is a bad thing. Removing the Oxygen from the mix increases the life of the wire and helps it maintain peak performance.
Is it possible to eliminate all noise from an interconnect?
When these cables are used properly there will be no perceivable noise from an inducted noise source not accounting for RFI or Nuclear Fallout (Electro Magnetic Pulse).
What is RFI?
Radio Frequency Interference (RFI) is a form of Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) emitted in the radio frequency range by electrical circuits that carry rapidly changing signals. This emission causes the induction of unwanted signals(interference or noise) into other circuits. This inducted noise/interference interrupts, obstructs, or degrades the effective performance of those circuits.
What is a Dual Jacket style interconnect?
The dual jacket style interconnect isolates the left and the right channels inside their own jacket of insulation. You'll see two distinct "cords" running the length of the interconnect.
How does Twisted Pair Technology help eliminate noise interference?
Twisted pair technology helps eliminate noise by alternating the position of the conductor inside the magnetic fields thereby canceling out the differences in the frequency of the interference. See FAQ number 1: "How do the wires being closer together minimize noise interference?"
What is HyperTwist Technology?
HyperTwist technology amplifies the effectiveness of the Twisted Pair technology by wrapping each twisted pair channel around the other in a similar fashion to negate any difference in the strength of the interference between the channels.
Why does the ZN6 have an outer conductor if it's a twisted pair and not a coaxial Design?
The ZN6 does not actually have an outer conductor, it is a decorative nylon braid that adds strength to the cable and helps visually distinguish the interconnect from the others.
What is a Crystal Flex Jacket?
Crystal Flex Jacket incorporates a number of materials to achieve Strength and flexibility while maintaining a crystal clear consistency.
What is the Remote Turn on Lead used for?
The remote turn on lead is used mainly in the simpler installations where there is a need for an integrated method to power up the amplifier.
How is the Serpentine Cut Machined Connector beneficial?
The Serpentine Cut Machined Connector allows maximum contact area around the receptacle for a more uniform transfer of signal.
You've told me a little about how each feature does its part to combat noise, but, exactly how does all your technology work together to completely eliminate noise?
Whew! Ok this is a big one! Ready?... It all starts with the composition of the conductors to purify and or separate the high and the low frequencies. Then we have reduced the diameter of the insulation to a minimum shortening the distance between the conductors inside the cable. This makes all the difference in the world; The closer the better. The twisted pair technology then cancels out the remaining difference in interference frequencies by alternating the physical location of the conductors inside the magnetic field of interference. Then the connectors fit perfectly on the outside of the receptacle and the inside achieving the best possible connection to transfer the pure signal to the components. All of these technologies working together progressively eliminate our worst enemy... Noise. It's all about achieving Zero Noise. We have done just that!
Why does Streetwires feel it is so superior to other brands of interconnects?
Actually, we feel Streetwires has an edge over the competition in a number of ways:
- The Price is now lower than comparable interconnects.
- The product has been tested against its leading competitors on its design class, and no one has managed to come close.
- They are an extremely appealing and complimentary to any install. The product is very attractive. It screams at you without offending anybody.
- Very high quality product. No product line of interconnects offers the quality Streetwires does at a comparable price.
What is the ESR?
The Cap's ability to discharge current very quickly based on resistance. The lower the ESR the better. Streetwires caps have the lowest ESR available.
How large of a Cap do I need, and how many?
1 farad cap up to, and for every 1000 watts. For example, a 2000 watt system would require two 1 farad capacitors.
Where should I mount the Cap?
As electrically close to the amp as possible. Keep the length of the power supply to the amplifier from the capacitor as short as possible to maximize effectiveness.
How should I charge and discharge the Capacitor?
For charging, youll find a resistor included in the packaging to place in your fuse holder before attaching the cap to the system. For Discharging, span the resistor between the positive and negative leads.
Do I need a fuse/distribution block if I already have fuses on my amp?
That really depends on your installation. If the fuses on the amplifier are difficult to get to, then use of a fuse block in a more accessible location makes a lot of sense.
Should I run a ground cable back to my battery?
It isn't necessary as long as you have a clean ground connection to either the frame or large metal body pieces.
Do I need to replace the factory batter clamps?
Yes. You will need to connect two power cables from the positive terminal of the battery as opposed to one as before. Streetwires carries battery clamp in a variety of styles.
Do I need a fuse holder under the hood?
YES! You increase the risk of fire in the vehicle if you neglect to install this safety device.
